Applewood is a fully accessible bungalow in Seaford, combining the best of a peaceful coastal and countryside setting with the hustle and bustle of nearby Brighton.

Featuring accommodation for up to four people (with room for one more person in the self-contained annexe), Applewood is a close-knit community where people can enjoy walks along Seaford Bay, explore the South Downs and local parks, and live life at their own pace.

Applewood is a warm and welcoming home designed to support independence and comfort. The home provides a peaceful environment where people can enjoy privacy whilst benefitting from SeeAbility's specialist support.

At the heart of Applewood is a spacious, well-maintained garden that captures the natural beauty of the area and provides a relaxing space to enjoy throughout the year. The home's small size creates a close-knit community, supporting people to build lasting friendships, develop new skills and live life at their own pace.

Situated in a quiet residential area of Seaford, Applewood is within walking distance of the seafront and has easy access to the iconic coastal chalk cliffs of the South Downs, giving people plenty of opportunities to enjoy the natural beauty of East Sussex.

The cultural hub of Brighton (known affectionately as 'London by the sea') is only a short journey away, offering everything from independent shops, cafés and restaurants to theatres, museums, and the iconic Brighton Palace Pier.

Our support

Our support in Applewood is designed to be highly person-centred. We take time to get to know everyone, enabling us to work alongside them to build ambitious lives. We provide tailored support to meet each person's needs, goals and aspirations, supporting them to develop new skills, gain confidence and build the life they choose.

Finding community

People living in Applewood make close friends both among their neighbours and in the local area. We have a thriving volunteer programme, with many long-term volunteers building long-term friendships with people we’re supporting.

We also have an activity centre in Seaford, the Bradbury Centre, where people living at Applewood can, if there is an assessed need, learn valuable new life skills.

There is also plenty to do in the local area. From Applewood, people have easy access to local coffee shops, world-famous walking and hiking trails, as well as the vibrant city of Brighton.

The magic of Applewood is that it can offer both the excitement of nearby Brighton, and the comfort of a quiet, relaxed home.

People supported by SeeAbility also have access to our supported employment programme Ready, Willing and Able. This programme supports people with confidence training and mentoring via a supported employment coach, who will also support them in their search to find meaningful employment.

SeeAbility’s Listen Up programme supports people with disabilities to speak up and campaign about the issues that matter to them. It is an exciting programme that works with people to build confidence and make a difference in society.
