Introducing: Ready, Willing & Able’s Employer Support Training

Ready, Willing and Able is SeeAbility’s supported employment programme for people with learning disabilities and autism. At the heart of Ready, Willing and Able is inclusion: we believe that everyone should be able to work if they want to regardless of their background or ability. We support people who are looking to move into work and develop their careers.

With over 220 years of experience, we are one of the UK's most experienced charities in supporting people with learning disabilities, autism and sight loss to achieve extraordinary things. Ready, Willing and Able is a relatively new programme for our charity, but the principles behind it – the right for people with disabilities to do the things they want in life – have been part of our mission since the beginning. Our programme supports people to achieve their ambitions around paid employment.

Ready, Willing and Able also offers the opportunity to support employers to develop a more inclusive workforce through the recruitment of enthusiastic and talented individuals who will become valued employees.

We are excited to announce we can offer employers two training sessions:

  1. Disability Awareness Training
  2. Rethink Employment: Accessible and Alternative Interview Training

Our training pilots have been developed in partnership with our Supported Employment Coaches and people with lived experience of disability.

This training will be delivered by our small team of friendly Supported Employment Coaches, punctuated with valuable insight from our trainers, who have witnessed first-hand the barriers to employment people face daily. Our training will be a unique and valuable experience for any business.

By becoming more inclusive, employers can take taking advantage of a talented pool of people with disabilities seeking work.

Our Disability Awareness Training will help teams have a greater understanding of disabilities and the challenges that their peers may face in employment. Our lived-experience trainers will provide guidance on how to support your colleagues and tips to ensure you get the best out of all your employees.

Our Rethink Employment: Accessible & Alternative Interview Training will explore alternative formats for interviewing allowing employers to gain a clearer understanding of applicants’ unique skills and talents. We will provide insight and advice into reasonable adjustments in the workplace and discuss how to ensure that your onboarding process in truly inclusive and accessible.

Both training sessions will offer interactive stories and open dialogue: you can be assured of an informative session that will open your eyes to a new pool of talent. By utilising the guidance within our training, you will have the tools to improve staff retention, increase customer loyalty, promote independence and change behaviours.

Not only will you acquire more in-depth knowledge of disabilities, but you will understand and confront common misconceptions. We will demonstrate how easily you can access funding to support your business, how to make reasonable adjustments, and how to become a disability-confident employer.

So, don't be left behind: be open and ready to learn. We are asking for a minimum donation however big or small. By donating, you are supporting the life-changing work of our supported employment programme
