Eye Care and Vision Strategy 2021-2023

Since the inception of our public health work, SeeAbility’s Eye Care and Vision department has worked on a balance between the creation of new and more accessible services and the requirement to educate and raise awareness through our eye care messages. This has lead to our success in influencing national policy to date.

Our previous strategy lay the foundations for improved national sight testing services for people with learning disabilities. This has been achieved with a commitment in the NHS England 10 year plan to provide comprehensive eye care services in all special schools. Also with SeeAbility’s recruitment of people with lived experience of disability to specialise in educating people with learning disabilities and their supporters to be eye care aware.

The Eye Care and Vision Strategy 2021-2023 will further build on these achievements by ensuring planned services and government policy commitments become a reality.
