New film to promote eye care service in Durham for people with learning disabilities

SeeAbility has worked with Durham County Council and Twisting Ducks Theatre Company to create a film promoting the Durham eye care service for people with learning disabilities.

The film explains that people with learning disabilities are 10 times more likely to have serious sight problems, but don't always get the eye care that they need.

The County Durham service helps people to maintain good eye health, wear glasses and maximise their vision.

How does the service work?

The eye care service is for people with learning disabilities and autism in County Durham.

Participating opticians can offer longer appointments or multiple appointments and easy to understand information for people with learning disabilities.

The film explains how people can use this service and which opticians can offer it.

County Durham is one of a small number of locations that operates a specialist eye care service for people with learning disabilities.

SeeAbility is working to increase access to this eye care pathway across the country.
