Four alternative ways to fundraise for SeeAbility

Fundraising isn’t all marathons, mountain climbs and bake sales – not everyone is super sporty or the next Mary Berry. Fundraising is for everyone, and it can be whatever you want it to be! Pretty much anything you’re interested in can be harnessed for its fundraising potential.

Here are just a few ideas of some alternative ways to fundraise for SeeAbility. If you’re interested in giving them a go, we’d love to help you out, so get in touch with our Fundraising team at fundraising@seeability.org

Murder mystery party

A magnifying glass

Fundraising may seem daunting, but Murder is Easy! Set a Cat among the Pigeons and schedule an Appointment with Death with your friends and family to raise money for SeeAbility. You can charge an entry fee, sell food, drinks and Sparkling Cyanide, and have an Endless Night of fun, all for a good cause!

Ask players to put their Cards on the Table and place their bets on who the culprit is – was it N or M? At the final Curtain, when all is revealed, donate a portion of the winnings to charity.

£25 challenge

Pound coins

Looking for a challenge to bulk up your The Apprentice application? There’s nothing likely to impress Lord Sugar more than turning £25 into £250 in five weeks. Use your £25 however you like – buy ingredients, craft tools, raffle prizes, anything that will help you get to that magic £250! If you can do that in just five weeks, donating your profits to SeeAbility, the Boardroom will be a walk in the park.

Come dine with me

a dinner party

Give your guests a lesson in grace and decorum by hosting a charity dinner party. Pick a theme, create a menu of all your signature dishes, and for goodness’ sake, don’t put a whisk in your mouth.

Ask your guests to donate what they would pay for the meal in the restaurant, and set them all the same challenge. We would suggest you are more generous with your ratings than the participants on the show, and we would certainly avoid making unflattering comparisons between your guests and reversing dump trucks.

Sponsored silence

This is your opportunity to discover just how much your friends and family would pay to keep you silent.

Set your price. For example: every £50 raised adds an extra 12 hours to your silence, so £200 raised = two days of silence. If your friends and family are particularly enjoying the respite from your incessant chatter, they can keep adding to the pot.

Perhaps the best way to raise money by doing nothing!

These are just a few of the many alternative ways you can raise money for SeeAbility. You don’t have to have any particular skill, tools or money to fundraise – all you need is a little creativity!

We would love to help you out on your fundraising journey, so please do get in touch with our Fundraising team if you’d like a hand with any fundraising challenges.
