From moments missed to moments that matter
people with learning disabilities are living with a sight problem in the UK
may not be getting the support they need
times more likely for children with learning disabilities to have serious sight problems
800,000 people with learning disabilities are living with a sight problem in the UK. As many as half are not getting the support they need - they are missing moments that matter.
Over the next five years, we have an ambition to expand our services to reach 25,000 more children and young people in special schools, ensuring that far fewer lives are lived out of focus.
To deliver eye care support that changes lives, we need to raise £31 per child.
Your support can change lives.
No one should miss a lifetime of moments because they were never given access to basic eye care. With the right support, everything can change for a child in an instant.
£20 could help share accessible eye care information with families and professionals.
£31 could help provide eye care support for a child.
£50 could support vital eye health awareness sessions.
£186 could provide eye tests for an entire special school classroom.
Every gift helps someone see clearly, connect with others, and live more independently.
Watch Terence's story
For 20 years, Terence had never had a sight test. When he finally received the right support, everything changed in an instant.
When sight problems like Terence’s go unnoticed, life doesn’t stop – but it does narrow.
Over time, moments of learning, connection and independence quietly slip away.
What we do
We provide specialist eye care and vision support for people with learning disabilities at every stage of life.
We support children with sight tests in special schools, with glasses provided and support to use them.
We support young people to build confidence, independence and access to the world around them.
We support adults with vision rehabilitation and accessible pathways into community eye care services.
This is practical, proven support that changes lives every day.
