Join our special schools eye care team!
Children with learning disabilities are 28 times more likely to have sight problems, but 4 in 10 have never had any eye care before.
That’s why we’re bringing full clinical eye care directly into special schools to meet this vast unmet need, through our NHS Special Schools Eye Care Service.
We’re looking to recruit a high number of clinical professionals to bring this service to schools across London and the South-East.
All roles are unique and non‑commercial, offering longer appointment times, continuity of care, and the opportunity to apply and develop advanced clinical skills, with a level 7 training package included for all clinicians. You’ll adapt your approach to meet a wide range of complex needs, using specialist techniques and professional judgement to deliver high-quality, person-centred care.
Be part of a nationally expanding service transforming access to eye care - and use your clinical expertise to make a genuine difference every day.
‘There is no more fulfilling work you could be doing in the UK eye care sector right now. As an optometrist, no other role I’ve been in has such a unique blend of challenge, variety and fulfilment. Every day is different, but every day I can see just how much I am changing lives. There’s nothing like it.’ - Malvi Patel, Special Schools Eyecare Service Clinical Lead
