Whole home testing update . You will have heard on the news that whole home testing is being made available to registered care homes. This is to be welcomed, as it’s a programme of planned testing, regardless of whether people have symptoms. The Department of Health and Social Care has provided detailed guidance and videos on how best to support the needs of people with learning disabilities in terms of explaining the testing process; managers will also be liaising with family members to discuss how it will work, and to help inform a best interest decision where people may lack capacity to consent. It’s a government expectation that staff and people we support will be tested in the coming weeks and although it isn’t yet available for supported living services, anyone who is symptomatic will be able to access a test.
