You don’t have to be a miracle worker although that would be great. You don’t even need previous experience, as you’ll benefit from an industry leading induction and training programme. You just need to be extraordinary and make each and every day extraordinary for the people we support!

SeeAbility encourages people with disabilities to challenge what they expect from life, from themselves and from wider society. The people we support overcome huge barriers to achieve exciting new things every day: some big, some small, all extraordinary. They challenge us all to rethink disability.

Fir Tree Lodge is a residential home for 10 adults with a range of disabilities and complex needs.

Our specialist support team work closely with the people we support, providing rehabilitation to people with sight loss to help them maintain and develop skills, and be more independent. We have speech and language therapists who support people with communication difficulties and the team also provides assistive technology and accessible information. All those supported at Fir Tree Lodge can benefit from weekly physiotherapy and hydrotherapy sessions at the newly-refurbished Penny Activity & Resource Centre. This is our onsite specialist day service providing opportunities including music therapy, arts and crafts, cookery, interactive technology and horticulture.

As a support worker your contribution will be invaluable. Supporting the manager, deputy manager and other team members you’ll work as a team to provide support to the people we support, helping them to live as independently as possible. Through skilful interactions and involvement in person centred planning and partnership working you’ll work with them and their families, to provide excellent, person centred support, which is both safe, maximises choice and control and identifies outcomes that improve the quality of their everyday life.

You’ll need to be patient and calm under pressure as well as sociable, caring and supportive but above all you’ll want to make a difference. You’ll seek new ways of working by thinking outside of the box and being creative with solutions and will take personal responsibility for the quality of care and support delivered to the people we support, striving to always do what is right by them.

So apart from transforming lives what’s in it for you? You’ll benefit from working with an exceptional team, an outstanding induction and training programme as well as on-going development with the opportunity to gain formal qualifications. We also offer flexible working options, long service and recognition awards and company pension and life assurance schemes. And we don’t expect you to take your work home with you at the end of the day, in fact its illegal!
