For Grace getting the right eye care was life-changing “SeeAbility’s support changed everything – practically and emotionally. I wouldn’t even go down to the shops on my own, but now I have a paid job. That’s the difference SeeAbility makes.” – Grace, SeeAbility Eye Care Champion Grace’s incredible story begins with eye care – her life was transformed because of SeeAbility’s Vision Rehabilitation Team. Grace had problems with her eyes from a very early age, but it took a long time to get the right support: My previous support team had no training in eye care. They thought I was being difficult when I said I couldn’t see. That all changed when Grace moved into a supported living service run by SeeAbility. Our Eye Care Team provided the support and knowledge Grace needed to develop her independence, and participate more confidently in her community. Her eye care journey has made her more determined than ever to stand up for people with learning disabilities. Grace is now employed in her first permanent, paid role, as a SeeAbility Eye Care Champion helping people with learning disabilities to access good eye care. When I got the phone call to say I’d got the job. I cried. But that’s SeeAbility for you – they see ability. .
