The Tandem Club based at SeeAbility’s Millennium Centre in Leatherhead meets every Friday afternoon to cycle in the local community.

The group is made up of two members of staff and 15 dedicated volunteers who support ten visually impaired people by piloting the tandem bikes, riding side-by-side or by driving the minibus. Our visually impaired riders are behind the pilots and called stokers.

On Friday 5th February the Tandem Group had their annual award ceremony at Ashtead Squash Club. John Davis pilot volunteer presented Shay Young with a certificate and a model tandem for cycling the most miles in 2015, 198 miles in total. Mandy Baker was awarded a side-by-side model for cycling a total of 47 miles. David Godwin won the 'Ian Jobson Endeavour' cup for putting in the most effort.

They all enjoyed a two course meal and a trivia quiz, making it a very enjoyable day out.

If you are interested in joining our group as a stoker and have a visual impairment please contact Clare Oades on 01372 389 414 or email: c.oades@seeability.org
