Our patron, HRH The Duchess of Gloucester, visited Exeter Support Service last week for an afternoon tea party and made a generous gesture that made one young woman very happy.

Laura (pictured above) took the opportunity to present a beautiful bouquet of flowers to The Duchess, who upon receiving them asked Laura which flower she liked the most, and broke off the single stem Laura selected to hand back to her.

It was a lovely moment that summed up a brilliant day,

said Jean Thompson, Registered Manager at Exeter Support Service.

“What thrilled me the most was seeing Laura choose which flower she wanted and the beaming smile on her face which lasted all afternoon!”

The Duchess was also presented with a framed photo by James Clive-Francis. He's a keen amateur photographer in his spare time and chose his favourite snap of a Dartmoor pony.

“The people we support were delighted to host the Duchess for a visit to their homes, twelve years after her first visit when they moved in,”

said SeeAbility Chief Executive, Lisa Hopkins.

“The people who are supported by SeeAbility at Exeter Support Service are homeowners of their individual flats, which is a unique model, and the Duchess’ visit gave them a chance to show her where they live.”
