Quality Action Group
Involving and empowering people
We have established our first Quality Action Group in the South East. The group is a user council that aims to involve and empower the people who use our services to improve the way
SeeAbility meets their needs.
The group is made up of individuals from each of our services with one person chairing the group. Everyone is given the training they require to prepare them for playing an active role in the group.
Supported by staff, people discuss what they personally like (and dislike) about the charity's services.
We are looking forward to repeating the success of the group in the South West.
James is a member of the Quality Action Group and shares his thoughts on what being a member means to him.
What QAG means to me?
Quality Action Group is where us residents bring items of agenda to a panel meeting; for us to discuss and vote; to help improve SeeAbility homes.
What does it give you?
- Help to encourage me to make positive decisions.
- Chat to other group members, discover how their home environment may have helped them and their fellow residents.
- Encourage the other residents to communicate between each other, to make decisions of what they want SeeAbility to do for them.
What good outcomes have there been?
Discovered there are other residents within SeeAbiltiy with the same disabilities as me and that there are others more disadvantaged than me.
What would you like it to do?
I would like any possible changes i.e policy, from central office to be brought forward to the meeting for the panel to make a decision of Yes or No, so we can decide if it will impact on our lives whilst living in SeeAbilty homes, i.e like the finance check that was put in place, and now we have to have signature checks done daily by two staff. I had written a complaint out about this and I have had a letter back from head office but no changes as yet.
