As an organisation we continue to raise awareness of the prevalence and under detection of sight problems amongst people with learning disabilities.
People

Our Look Up information and advice service, focuses on eye care and vision for adults with learning disabilities, providing information for them, their family carers; eye care professionals and health and social care staff. It is delivered online, through publications, and a help phone line.

Look Up provides free to access informative and educational resource which is accessible.

What’s on Look Up?

  • A national register of optometrist to find a local Opticians, providing key information about the optometry practice and the facilities available to people with learning disabilities
  • Our You and Eye film. Made by people with learning disabilities for people with learning disabilities about getting your eyes tested
  • Factsheets and booklets with information on eye health and care, and how to support someone going for eye surgery
  • An explanation of the most common eye conditions for people with a learning disability
  • Functional vision assessment pack, an observational tool that can be used to recognise how a person with learning disabilities might be using their sight.
