Volunteering FAQs

Will I need a Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check?

It is our policy to apply for a DBS check for all volunteers who will have contact with vulnerable adults and young volunteers.

What is the minimum age for volunteers?

Our minimum age for volunteers is 16. People under 18 will need written consent from a parent or guardian before they can commence volunteering. There is no upper age limit.

How much time do I need to commit?

We have a range of volunteer opportunities. Some require just an hour a week, others a few hours a week, and whatever time you can spare each month. Just giving a small amount of time will make a real difference.

Will I get any expenses?

In order to ensure that volunteering is accessible to everyone, SeeAbility will pay reasonable out of pocket expenses, but we do not normally pay for travel from your home to a volunteer role.

Will I receive any training?

All volunteers are required to complete a local induction at the place where they volunteer on their first day. We also require volunteers to complete a safeguarding course within three months of starting. We offer further specific skills training, depending on the role you choose to undertake.

Where are there volunteering opportunities?

We have opportunities to volunteer in all our services, see where to find us
