Volunteering with SeeAbility
Frequently asked questions
Will I need a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check?
It is our policy to apply for a CRB disclosure for all volunteers who will have contact with vulnerable adults or young volunteers.
What is the minimum age for volunteers?
Our minimum age for volunteers is 16. Young people under 18 will need consent from their parent or guardian before they can commence volunteering. There is no upper age limit (our oldest volunteer is 88).
How much time do I need to commit?
SeeAbility has a range of volunteer opportunities. Some require a once a week commitment, others once a month. If you are interested in volunteering, get in touch. Even if you only volunteer for a few months, your help will make a difference.
Will I get any expenses?
In order to ensure that volunteering is accessible to everyone, SeeAbility will pay reasonable out of pocket expenses.
Will I receive specific training?
All volunteers will be given a local induction to the centre where they volunteer and an introduction to SeeAbility. There will also be opportunities to undertake specific skills training courses, depending on the role undertaken.
