Clarissa Dickson Wright Appeals on the BBC
Clarissa Dickson Wright, the renowned food writer and cook of Two Fat Ladies fame, is making an Appeal on BBC Radio 4 on Sunday February 13th for SeeAbility. The broadcasts, which will air at 7.55am and 9.26pm (as well as on Thursday February 17th at 3.27pm) will raise awareness about the tremendous contribution SeeAbility has made to helping people with a visual impairment and multiple disabilities to maximise their independence.
SeeAbility, formerly the Royal School for the Blind, is currently undergoing a major growth phase and desperately needs additional funds to provide specialist services for the people they help.
Clarissa Dickson Wright was drawn to SeeAbility’s work through her own experience of sight loss. A few years ago Clarissa suffered from cataracts and needed an operation to restore her vision.
“I am delighted to be able to make this appeal on behalf of SeeAbility. Having faced the terrifying experience of sight loss with cataracts, I can appreciate how devastating sight loss can be – and particularly if you have additional complex disabilities. I also share SeeAbility’s belief that it is vitally important that each individual is given the opportunity to maximise their independence. I do hope this appeal will resonate with the public and encourage people to donate so that SeeAbility can continue their outstanding work.”
