Chris’s 2010 Charity Challenges Raise £4k A photo of Chris Pinsent

Merrill Lynch financial advisor Chris Pinsent, has raised over £4k for SeeAbility by competing in three marathon challenges during 2010. The money is going towards SeeAbility’s specialist services for people with a visual impairment and multiple disabilities.

Chris began his epic fundraising year with the London Virgin Marathon in April – completing in it in a respectable 4 hours 25 minutes. In August, he took part in a 4-man relay swim across the English Channel and in November took part in the New York Marathon – completing that in 5 hours and 35 minutes.

Chris commented, “When I set out my goals for 2010 it was not my intention to run 2 Marathons and swim the Channel – it kind of just worked out that way! The training for each event was long and tough but knowing that I was supporting such a great cause made me all the more determined to see each challenge through to the end. I am incredibly grateful to all my supporters who have helped me to raise this significant sum for SeeAbility. I was drawn to the charity when I heard about their services which enable people with multiple disabilities to maximise their independence. It’s been great to know that the money has gone to such a worthwhile cause.”

Emma Smith, SeeAbility Head of Individual Donors and Corporates commented, “We are incredibly impressed that Chris managed to complete all these ambitious events in one year and we are delighted that he chose SeeAbility. We are currently investing in a range of innovative new services which enable people with multiple disabilities to become more independent so this is a tremendous boost to our fundraising. Thank you so much Chris!”
