UNUM dig deep at Fir Tree Lodge
On Friday 22nd August 2008 a team of ten staff from Unum's Basingstoke office arrived at Fir Tree Lodge in Tadley to take on a rather long team challenge.
The aim for the Unum staff was to erect 30 feet of fencing around the rear garden of Fir Tree Lodge. This was the third team from Unum to help at SeeAbility centres this year.
After a welcome and introduction from Tim Partridge, National Volunteer Manager the team got down to work. There were fence panels and posts to move, concrete to carry, tea to drink and jobs to allocate. After a busy
morning, the team took a welcome break and enjoyed an al fresco lunch on the lawn of Heather House.
By mid afternoon, most of the fence was up but there was still a lot to do to complete the job and put in the finishing touches. The Unum staff stayed until 5.30 to get the job finished and left exhausted.
Rich Eburne, one of the team said afterwards:
"It was hard work but very satisfying. The staff at Fir Tree Lodge were great, very friendly and very hospitable. It was really nice to get hand made thank you cards from the residents as well".
