Pfizer 'step back in time' for SeeAbilityGroup shot at Hampton Court

On Wednesday March 5th a team of ten volunteers from Pharmaceutical Company Pfizer, based in Tadworth took part in a volunteer challenge with a difference.

The team, made up of staff from Pfizer's Ophthalmology brand team gave a helping hand to a group of residents from Flat 2, Reeves Court, Leatherhead who visited the historic landscape gardens of Hampton Court Palace.

Pfizer has a very strong community volunteering programme called Health Relief and this is just one of a number of challenges that Pfizer have been involved with over the last few years.

The 10 staff began their day with a training course delivered by the SeeAbility Rehabilitation Team. Pfizer staff watched a DVD about SeeAbility services and then took part in a practical session on 'sighted guide techniques'. Afterwards there was a discussion on some of the challenges that visually impaired people might face when out and about.

Then it was off to Leatherhead by coach to join up with the 8 residents and 7 support staff from Reeves Court, before heading on to Hampton Court.

Once inside the grounds the group had a stroll in the sunshine, before settling onto some benches for a picnic lunch.

Greg, one of the Pfizer team commented ''
"For us, it was a way to start to help put something back into the community, and to hold a team building event. I'm very grateful for SeeAbility for the opportunity to see the great work they do and also very proud of the team for giving up their time to help some of the people that SeeAbility cares for".

SeeAbility would like to thank all the Pfizer staff who took part in the visit to Hampton Court Palace. The day was enjoyed by all the service users who went on the trip that day. Thank you.
