Early Christmas Present for SeeAbility

Employees of the leading disability insurer, Unum, exceeded their target when they helped raise a staggering £41,000 for their chosen charity SeeAbility.  The funds were raised by teams of runners taking part in Le Jo'G - Unum's annual sponsored relay run from John O'Groats to Land's End.

SeeAbility, formerly known as The Royal School for the Blind, provide a wide range of individually-tailored services for people with a sight impairment and multiple disabilities.

Funds raised by Le Jo'G are going towards SeeAbility's ground-breaking eye 2 eye Campaign which helps people with a learning disability access sight tests and low vision support.  SeeAbility launched the eye 2 eye Campaign after their research revealed that people with a learning disability are more likely to have a visual impairment than most people and yet less likely to have an eye test.  Many lose their sight needlessly because they are unable to have a standard sight test.

"We are enormously grateful to everyone at Unum for their commitment and support," says Jayne McGann, Fundraising and Marketing Director of SeeAbility. "This is a tremendous achievement and stands to improve the sight of hundreds of people with a learning disability."

SeeAbility Chief Executive, David Scott-Ralphs, was presented with a cheque for £41,000 by Susan Ring, Unum's CEO to cheers from members of the Le Jo'G teams.
