Lands End to John O'Groats Support for SeeAbility
Employees of leading disability insurer, Unum, have just completed "Le Jo'G" - a thousand mile relay run between Lands End and John O'Groats raising £30,000 for SeeAbility.
SeeAbility's ground-breaking eye 2 eye Campaign is one of several projects launched to help people with a learning disability access appropriate sight tests and low vision support. SeeAbility's research showed that many people with a learning disability lose their sight needlessly because they are unable to have a standard eye test.
"This is a fantastic achievement by all those who took part," says Jayne McGann, Fundraising and Marketing Director of SeeAbility. "We are very grateful to Unum for their continued support which is directly benefiting our project in Bristol where Unum have an office."
Earlier this year as part of the eye 2 eye Campaign, SeeAbility launched Look Up together with The Royal National Institute of Blind People, RNIB. The national information service is designed for people with a learning disability as well as optometrists and gives practical guidelines about sight tests for people with a learning disability.
