Young volunteers get down to decking challenge.
Over two days at the end of May, two groups of young volunteers from Newhaven took on the challenge of cleaning, preparing and repainting an area of decking at the SeeAbility Bradbury Centre, Seaford. The first group completed much of the preparation, whilst the second group finished the job by painting the decking, trellis and handrails The first group were from Lewes are in an eight week programme to support them as none of are in education, employment or training (NEET). Part of their support and skill training includes a day of volunteering. The second group were made up of one Millennium Volunteer and a group from The Foyer in Newhaven. The Foyer provides temporary accommodation and individual training support to young single people aged 16-25. All the young people who came along were using the Foyer as a base as an alternative to 'sofa surfing' or being homeless. SeeAbility Bradbury Centre now have a lovely looking outdoor area for all of our residents to enjoy this summer. Thank you to both teams for their hard work in making look as good as it does.
