Investors in People
SeeAbility is delighted to announce that following a review in May 2006 by Investors in People, it has been confirmed that we meet the ‘Revised Standard’ and continue to be recognised by Investors in People (IiP).
SeeAbility was originally recognised by Investors in People in February 1997, and has subsequently been successfully reviewed in June 1999 and August 2001. In August 2003 we asked Investors in People to undertake a Profile Review of SeeAbility which indicated that in certain areas such as communication, induction of new staff, commitment of staff, relationships with representative groups and strategic planning, we exceeded the requirements of the Investors in People Standard.
In May 2006 we agreed to be reviewed against the IiP ‘Revised Standard’ which we understood to be more challenging than the previous Standard. We would be assessed on issues, for example, staff involvement in planning and decision making, recognising individual contribution, tighter evaluation and a clear definition of a SeeAbility manager and what is expected of them. The Investors in People Assessor interviewed 53 people involving staff, bank staff, volunteers, management and trustees over a period of 4 days, visiting 5 different locations. Everyone was committed to the process of achieving a positive review, in fact some staff volunteered to be interviewed by telephone at home or even to come in on their day off!
The desire to achieve the Investors in People recognition is not just about recognition, more importantly it is about measuring ourselves as an organisation; that we meet a certain standard of performance in the way we operate, and that we continually strive to improve our performance. The Investors in People review allows us to continually assess how we improve as a Charity, employer and service provider.
